About

Horitrix

Horitrix Limited is a Hong Kong company, founded in 2026, making tools that help people understand their mechanical watches.

Who we are

Horitrix was founded by Quinn Lai, a Hong Kong watch entrepreneur and product designer.

Quinn studied mechanical engineering at Stanford University with a focus on design thinking, and began a career at McKinsey & Company, advising automotive, manufacturing and infrastructure businesses.

In 2014 Quinn co-founded EONIQ, a Hong Kong watch brand that lets people design their own mechanical watch online; its Braemar became the first skeleton mechanical watch to receive a Hong Kong Certificate of Origin. Quinn went on to start DIY Watch Club, which sends watchmaking kits to enthusiasts around the world so they can assemble a mechanical watch with their own hands.

After years of helping people design and build mechanical watches, Quinn started Horitrix to help them understand how those watches are running.

What we believe

  • A mechanical watch deserves to be understood, not just worn.
  • Plain language over jargon. The measurements are technical; what they mean shouldn’t be.
  • Honest numbers. We only publish a figure we can stand behind.

Where we are

Our first product is in development. Nothing is for sale yet.

The name

Horitrix (ho-REE-trix) draws on hōra, the word for ‘hour’ behind horology, and hori (彫り), Japanese for carving — time, and the craft of making things by hand.
